MD3260 - Virtual Disk remains degraded
Hello everybody,
we have two 30-drive DDPs in our MD3260, each with a virtual disk. We have had a drive fail on one of the pools, so I replaced it with an identical model.
After that, I got a physical channel degraded error in DSM, which I assume was caused by the fact that the replacement drive an older firmware had as the rest. Couldn't upgrade it online however, because the corresponding pool/virtual disk was marked as degraded. I solved this error by the re-setting the channel status via SMcli - since then, it didn't reappear.
However, our virtual disk remained marked as degraded. It also never went, as far as I could tell, in rebuild mode. I even removed the replacement drive again (via the "fail" command), and then chose the manual rebuild option - DSM worked for a bit, and then put the drive as optimal, however the virtual disk remained still degraded.
So, I am a bit stumped - how can I make sure that my disk pool / virtual disk are actually OK, and could survive another drive failure?

Hello OeKo,
What is the current version of firmware on your MD3260? What is the Dell part# that is on your replacement drive? The best way to see what is going on is to look at a support bundle from your MD3260. I will send you a private message so that you can send me the support bundle.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Sam, thanks for getting back - I have sent you the support bundle via E-Mail.
The MD3260 is on the 08.20.12.60 firmware.
The failed drive and the replacement are both Dell MG03SCA300 / HDEPC01DLA51 drives. The replacement drive is however on the DG02 firmware, the other 3 TB drives in the array are DG09.
