MD3420 Error 1011 - A management connection to the RAID controller module
I keep getting the error below whenever I try to create and map a virtual disk to a host. I've made sure the cables to the SAS controller are secure, and there is Ethernet connection to both controllers. What am I doing wrong?
A management connection to the RAID controller module in slot 1 must be defined to complete this operation.
If you are managing this RAID controller module directly through the Ethernet (out-of-band), you must define its management connection (IP address or DNS/Network name) using the Add Storage Array option.
If you are managing this RAID controller module through a host agent (in-band), verify that all physical paths to the RAID controller module are connected and operational. Then run the hot_add utility on the affected host, and then Refresh or Rescan the Host.
An Exception has occurred during the execution of Dbm Validation Operation. Please find the stack trace below :
devmgr.v1110api36.sam.jal.ManagementOperationFailedException: Error 1011 - A management connection to the RAID controller module in slot 1 must be defined to complete this operation.

Hello FD Dion,
So based on the info that you posted it looks like you don’t have controller 1 management port configured. Now when you configure the management ports on your MD it should show you 4 management IP’s but you don’t change the first & 3rd IP’s. I would double check that the IP’s are correct in your setup & then try again to map the virtual disk to the host.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
