ME4 Pool Recommendation with 16 SSDs
Dear all,
I have a customer who bought an ME4024 with 16x 1,92TB SSDs, which setup you would recommend?
Option1:
Pool-A with ADAPT(16 Disks)
=> not optimal because in that case only 1 controller is handling the traffic, do you think customer will recognize the performance degradation?
Option2:
Pool-A with RAID6(8 Disks)
Pool-B with RAID6(8 Disks)
=> not optimal because RAID6 should be with 6(4+2) or 10(8+2), do you think customer will recognize the performance degradation?
Option3:
Pool-A with RAID1(2 Disks)and RAID5(5 Disks)
Pool-B with RAID1(2 Disks)and RAID5(5 Disks)
2 global Hotsparess
=> optimal Setup for RAID1(1+1) and RAID5(4+1), but I´m not sure where Data will be written by ME Storage (RAID1, RAID5, Tiering on same Pool?)
Thanks,
Christian

Hello @cehart,
Honestly, I would prefer not to recommend you which configuration you should choose as that is a decision that you should take based on your customer needs.
I would suggest however, if you are in doubt, to use the guided setup and provisioning and let the ME4024 recommend you the best configuration. If you are operating in a virtual storage environment, the system scans all available disks, recommends one optimal storage configuration, and displays the suggested disk group layout within the panel. Disk groups are automatically grouped together by pool and tier and include a description of the total size and number of disks that are provisioned (including the configuration of spares and unused disks).
Hope this information help you. Please, don't hestiate to ask any other thing.
Regards.
