Moving physical drives in MD1200
Silly question really ... client has an MD1200 attached to an MD3200. My OCD is kicking in because someone has setup a RAID 6 on the MD1200 with physical drives shoved in various bays i.e. 1,3, 7, 8 and 12 with a spare sitting in 5. I know its not a 'big thing' but for some reason its driving me nuts every time I look at it. Is it possible, or what is the best process here, without losing data as its in Production, to move the drives so I can full up the bays from 1 onwards with the spare at the end just to tidy it up and have the empty bays at the end so I can think about adding extra storage or maybe a new disk group in the future?
I have a feeling that ejecting and moving them physically will likely cause issues so throwing it out here to the community.

You can definitely reassign that hotspare to the other drive. The controller would then migrate the data over and give you the config you're looking for. As you mentioned in your post, doing this physically would lead to a fair bit of heartache.
The tool you'll want to use is MDSM on the Resource disk.
