Performance issues with PV MD 3000

Hi All, We are using PV MD 3000 and PE 2950 server. The disk space is around 1.2TB & it is configured in raid 10.The io wait on the server is very high on a average when compared to other servers. It is around 20 mb/sec which is exceptionally high . So can anyone suggest the ways of increasing the performance.Whether it is OS(RHEL 4.0) related or raid related .Your suggestions are highly appreciated and please get back to me if you need any further details. Thanks in advance Regards, Madhu Babu.

What is your cabled configuration? Is the MPP RDAC driver installed?

Also, can you provide details on what your data access is like?

Several things can affect performance.    From the number you quoted it is likely that your application is running highly random accesses where disk seek time is the dominant factor.  Also if all your disk is configured in a single disk group you may not be utilizing the feature richness inherent in the dual controller configuration of the MD3000.  More than one group will be allocated to different controllers, allowing much higher (I've measured 45% better with 64KB sequential transfers) throughput.

If you wish performance specifics, others will need to know
a) your VD configuration and host attach configuration
b) how you are measuring performance
c) what applications are running during the performance measurements
d) if you know it, what are the characteristics of the application in terms of sequential, random access, block size transferred
