Hello NorfolkIT,

If you want to clean the drive & have a cleaning tape then you can insert it from the front panel and send it to the drive. You can do so by going through the following:

  1. From the front panel go to the Commands menu & press enter
  2. Within the Commands Menu you will choose Enter mailslot
  3. Next you will need to tell the media where you want it to go so you will select to drive which will put the cleaning tape in the drive.
  4. The front slot will open and you will need to insert the cleaning tape until it says stop & it will take the cleaning tape & clean the drive.
  5. Once the cleaning is done then you will need to eject the tape from the drive to the mailslot so that you can remove it from the PV124T.

Now there is also a ethernet connection on the back of the PV124T that you can manage the unit from as well and move media around & run test on the system. Now to set that up what you will need to do is the following:

  1. connect an ethernet cable to the PV124T
  2. From the front panel go to the Status menu & hit enter
  3. Got to the ethernet & press enter and this will give you the IP address of the PV124T web management utility
  4. If the IP will work in your network then you can go to an machine & try & hit the IP address so you can get to the management utility. If you need to change the IP address use the following steps 5-9. If not then move to step 10.
  5. Go to the Configuration menu & hit enter
  6. Select ethernet & press enter
  7. Select set IP & hit enter
  8. You will need to use the up & down arrows to enter in the IP address, subnet mask,& gateway
  9. Once finished entering the IP in the PV124T and saved the configuration then go to any internet browser and enter in the IP address & it should bring up the management utility.
  10. The default username=Admin & default password=password & if it hasn’t been changed should let you in.
  11. Once you are into the management interface you can go to the library operations page & see if there are any tapes in the system & if so how many as all the data tapes are listed as green. If you have any tapes that have a tan color then that is a cleaning tape.
  12. Also if you go to the configuration page & you scroll about half way down you can see where you can set a cleaning slot & then move a cleaning tape to that slot and that way when the system needs to be cleaned again it will automatically clean the drive for you when needed.
  13. Also if you want to change the password then you can do that also do that from in the configuration menu as well.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
