Powervault 124t
Hi all.I'm new to dell powervault and I have recently taken over from someone who never document anything and I have become stuck with what Im assuming is probably an easy task once you have done it once or twice. The power vault requires a clean. We use symantec backup exec, I don't know if there is a cleaning tape on there, how to put one in or even how to run a clean, all I know is I have a cleaning tape and a message on the front of the box and in symantec saying it needs a clean. I have no idea what to do and all the guides I have found tell you what the tape is and nothing says how to do it. I would really appreciate any advice on this. As an addition I am also unawares the tapes were changed regularly and even if they need to be changed in this system. I found a box of tapes with dates on but the guy left nearly two months ago and no one knows anything about it so hasn't been changed since the last time the guy I replaced left. If I do change the tape do I need to stop anything on the software? Thank you for taking th time to read.

Hello NorfolkIT,
If you want to clean the drive & have a cleaning tape then you can insert it from the front panel and send it to the drive. You can do so by going through the following:
Now there is also a ethernet connection on the back of the PV124T that you can manage the unit from as well and move media around & run test on the system. Now to set that up what you will need to do is the following:
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
