PowerVault 650F, request for info on error message
Hello, I'm a new poster here & would ask the forbearance of those more knowledgeable than myself.
We have some PV 650Fs which have been removed from service & need to be reconfigured. Unfortunately they were pulled out with no documentation & the arrays have been mixed up & drives appear to have been changed around somewhat. One unit is working fine after finding the drives with the flare code, the other unit however has a problem. It boots up to the following message;
Copyright (c) CLARiiON Storage Systems, Inc. 1991 - 1999
Disk Array Subsystem Controller
Model FC5600C
Firmware Revision 03.21 - Aug 13,1999
ABCDEabFabcdefgGabHabcIJKLaMabNOPabcQabc
.... Storage System Failure - Contact your Service Representative ...
Information Code 0x80000000
That's as far as it gets.
We have drives with flare codes 5.11.09 and 5.11.05 installed, and have tried both in this array without success. Would anyone be able to enlighten me as to the problem? These were working systems and I can only assume, hopefully, that it's a relatively simple problem which I'm missing. These are out of warranty now & not supported by Dell
Thanks in advance
Gavin

Your Storage Processor boards have an Firmware Rom wich must correspond with your flare OS.
If you have the Firmware/Liccode file from the SAN 4.06 update CD you can upgrade or flash with the same firmware level.
1st make sure your working set has the same firmware/flare OS level as you have on your CD.
If not, dowload within datasupervisor the firmware/Liccode to your system.
What you can do is build a new set of Flare disk from the set working disk's.
If you replace disk 0 with an empty one and reboot the 650F the flare will be rebuild on this 0
When finished with disk 0 repeat the steps for disk 1 & 2
When finished.
Replace the first Storage processor board with one from the system which don't work.
Download the firmware/Liccode again and your processor board should be on the same level.
repeat this for the second controller.
This should work
