Problems connecting to a Dell MD3220i array

Hello,  We have a Dell MD3220i system that I was asked to set up.  However, I'm stuck right at the beginning.  I can't seem to communicate with the management network port.  By default, the two ports are supposed to be accessed by the IP addresses 192.168.128.101 and 192.168.128.102.  My laptop is configured with 192.168.128.100 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 .  Both management ports are plugged into a basic switch.  I can not ping either management port and I have also tried both "automatic" and "manual" connections in the "Modular Disk Configuration Utility" and the "Modular Disk Storage Manage Client".  I have used both the software DVD that came with the system and the latest one that I just downloaded today.

I can not figure out how to get communication going with this device and I also can not figure out how to reset it hoping that might help.  Any help is appreciated.

On the MD3000 (the MD32x0's predecessor), the steps to reset the password give you a menu that also allows viewing and changing the IP on a raid controller via the serial cable.

Check out the MD3000 documentation here and see if this method works for the MD32x0 as well.

Given this is almost a couple of months old, you are already past this point...

Anyways, I found that a new unit will grab an IP from DHCP if it can, instead of what is listed as default.  If you hook up a serial cable to one of the controller modules, and power down the power supplies, and wait several minutes for the controller to shut down (funny how it starts talking on the serial port after you kill power...), and then turn and watch the screen you should get the IP it uses.
