Problems with 705N Raid -- Please help!
Hi There.
I have a Powervault 705N that I'm trying to build a 4-disk RAID 5 set on. By themselves, each disk checks out as OK. However, whenever I try to build a RAID 5 set out of the 4 disks, I always get an error of some kind from the File System.
Examples of errors include:
File System : Failed to resynchronize logical set 60000, error -1
File System Check : FSC K fatal error = 39
File System Check : Bad state 0 for inode I=909338
and
File System Check : FSC K fatal error = 39
File System Check : Bad state 0 for inode I=1099842
When I break the RAID up, I get 4 good disks again.
I have upgraded to the latest OS and I've tried just about everything I could think of. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!

Here's more info -- no matter what kind of disk configuration I use I get this error. It seems like as long as I leave the drives seperate they're ok. If I build any kind of larger drive, then I get this problem.
Does anyone have an idea on how to deal with this? I'm on my own and have no one else I can ask.
Thanks again

Hi,
I found your post whilst looking into the same problem on a Quantum Snap Server... I too was able to create individual disks but not a RAID 5 set. I removed the disks from the server and tested them using a free disk testing program (http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm) This found disk 3 to be defective, I replaced this and everything is up and running! Not sure why the server couldn't just say there was a fault with Disk 3, would have saved loads of time...
Hope that helps...
Pete
