PV110T VS80 - I/O device error
Perhaps someone can help. We have a PV110T VS80 Tape drive on a Power Edge 4400 file server - NT OS. We are using Veritas 7.3 software. The scheduled backup stops after 1-2G of backup with an I/O error. It isn't consistent on where or when is fails. At best, the tape drive is backing up at a rate of 20MB/min but usually is running around 15MB/min. We have reinstalled the scsi Adaptec 39160 driver and the tape drive driver with no change.
A test backup of 3G worked fine when we ran it instead of scheduling. We're trying a full backup now without the schedule and it is running very slow - over an hour per Gig of files.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

My previous DLT1/VS80 broke last week and I managed to get a replacement. I ran 3-4 test backups on the new drive and everything seemed to work fine...until I ran the Friday backup. I came in this morning and the tape had ejected (like it usually does) - so I though it must have ran without errors. After checking the log and noticing that no 'job completion' was there I knew something was wrong!
The backup ran for just over an hour (706 mb) and then fell over with: I/O device error. I'm presently running another backup and it's been going for 2 hours and still no failer. I don't understand - do I need to upgrade the driver / firmware?
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks,
Ben
