PV660F not showing in Array Manager

Hello,

Hope post isn't too long going to give as much info in one post.

Ok, I have a PE1750 dual 2.8, 2 gb, 3x36 raid 5 perc 4/di. OS windows 2003 ent. sp1
fibre HBA is Qlogic QLA2310 in slot 1.

Server has the latest firmwares, bios A11, raid 412W, HBA 1.47.

Power vault 660F with 2-224F total of 38 disks mostly 73gb

I have set up system installed Array Manager 3.6 ver 3.7 doesnt work (has no server).
Installed latest windows HBA driver from Qlogic. verified in device manager.

I have installed and tested Qlogic Sansurfer, tested and activated the HBA.

I have set the Array Manager Utilities options to PV660F and direct attached.

Started Array Manager, it shows the perc 4/di controller, drives and array.
It lists Powervault 660, but no controller and anything under it.

Problem is what am I missing?
I have tried on another system installing the QLconfig and intel dmi 2.0 driver. made no difference.

I have installed Mylex SanManager 5.0 and it finds everything, HBA, powervaults and all drives, even set up a small array worked fine. So with that said, connections and controllers are all functional.

Please help, why don't they show up in array manager?

I thought about storage manager, but it doens't support PV660F.

Thanks

Mark

Have you compared your setup to the Dell SAN support matrix (see here)?

A few pointers:
- Dell only certified the 660 with the 7.82 firmware on the PV660F under W2K3 (SAN 5.0, which requires/required (not sure if it's still available) you to get with sales and purchase warranty and pay for someone to come onsite and set it up for you)
- Dell only certified the QL2100 and QL2200 HBAs

I'd suggest trying a QL2200 with the older 8-series driver (definately not a storport driver or HA driver as these were never tested or certified by Dell, so they'll likely not work) and an older version of QMSJ.

A good choice too would be to revert back to Windows 2000. The equipment is dated, so the support for the equipment is with dated software/OS/drivers.

If you want to have a large storage solution with a modern OS, you may want to look into purchasing a more modern SAN solution (e.g. CX300 or maybe an AX100 if the 12 ATA drives can meet your storage needs).

I just configured a 660F with a PE2650 (QLA2200) – direct connection.  I was having problems when I had two 220F enclosures connected.  You may want to turn off the 220F enclosures to simplify your troubleshooting.

Are you getting any errors (amber lights) displayed on the rear of the 660F?
