Thanks for the reply. So in this case, I would just need to do a Refresh since the hard disk's graphical layout will show that the hard disk is down if that is the case, right?
A refresh would update the window contents if array managers auto poll has found any changes which have not been automatically updated in the window, this can sometimes take a while to happen. A rescan gives an more accurate picture of device status. It's the same as exiting and re-starting array manager.
