Refresh or Rescan Array?

Question

Hi there,   I have read the differences between 'Rescan' and 'Refresh' in the View Menu in Dell OpenManage Array Manger. However, I am not quite sure about the differences. To manually check whether all hard disks in my Array is functioning well (that is, not failed), do I click Rescan or Refresh?     Thank you very much.

Hi Tommo,   Thanks for the reply. So in this case, I would just need to do a Refresh since the hard disk's graphical layout will show that the hard disk is down if that is the case, right?

A refresh, updates the contents of the window and a rescan, does an active scan for devices on the buses.

A refresh would update the window contents if array managers auto poll has found any changes which have not been automatically updated in the window, this can sometimes take a while to happen. A rescan gives an more accurate picture of device status. It's the same as exiting and re-starting array manager.
