replaced disk in MD3000 unassigned

I've got an MD3000/MD1000 data array with 3 disk groups. Two of those disk groups have a single hot spare. All drives are identical within a given disk group (i.e. 1,863.017 GB SAS). I had a reported disk failure and saw that the hot spare has filled in keeping the data both redundant and intact (RAID 5).

I purchased a similar replacement drive that is listed as compatible by DELL. However, when I place it into the array, it appears as an unassigned drive and does not initiate a rebuild as described by the Recovery Guru. The Recovery Guru also says there is no Service Action (removal) allowed.

Does anyone know how to initiate the rebuild of the RAID onto the replaced drive?
