Smcli Linux installation
Hello,
we have a MD3220 storage and want to setup monitoring with Nagios on a linux machine.
So i'd like to use the smcli tool to query the MD3220.
However, i have some issues installing the software from the Ressource DVD (DELL_MDSS_Consolidated_RDVD_4_1_2_29)
I copied the contents of the CD to our Centos 5 machine and started the installation by running ./mdss_install.bin
The installation completes without any warnings or errors. However, when i look at the installation directory, i just see a jre directory, the install log and a folder called mdconfigurationutility which doesn't contain smcli.
Any help would be appreciated.

You may have to run this from X-windows (or equivalent) as the smcli is part of the management (GUI) software.
If that doesn't help, maybe someone else with more Linux + MD3200 experience can chime in (the MD3200 setups I deal with are just work Windows and VMware).

Hi,
thanks for your answer.
I already tried to use the GUI launcher with X11 forwarding, but the clickable buttons didn't work for me so i wanted to try the command line installation.
But, today i made another attempt using the GUI, and at the same time i watched the system proccesses in another SSH session.
When i click the button to install the software, gzip becomes active for some seconds, and then nothing happens. When i click the button again, i get a popup, that this proccess is already running.
Any ideas anyone?
