Storage Container Question

I have 15 300GB SAS drives in a MD3000.  I am trying to create 7 mirrored drives with a spare drive.  When I attempt access the drives in Linux, I can only access 4 of the 7.  I can see every other drive in the OS.  Does anyone have any advice?

How do you have the Linux system cabled to the MD3000 ?

I suspect you only have one cable from one port of the HBA connected to one of the raid controllers. When creating Luns in the MDSM utility it will alternate which RAID controller is the default owner. Since you can see 4 of the 7 Luns you would most likely be connected to RAID controller 0.

There are two different solutions for you to be able to see all of the Luns.

Option 1: In the MDSM utility change the default owner of all of the LUNS to the RAID controller you are connected to (most likely RAID controller 0).

Option 2: Connect the other SAS HBA port to the other RAID controller. Install the Linux RDAC multipath driver from the MDSM CD. This option will give you redundancy to the array.
