7920 Tower Extended Diagnostics

Hello, have a 7980 tower system that has 64gb ram and has been having unusual behaviour for number of years. I am suspecting if there is motherboard or memory stick errors or maybe the Intel softraid driver.

Running the Dell diagnostics tools and extended tools indicates everything is passing tests. But the system continues to have issues.

- The issues we are seeing is, after extended length of time, the system just stops responding and goes black screen and refuses to wake up. The only way to bring it back up online is to hard crash it and reboot it.This was happening when it was Windows 10 and it also continuing to happen now that it is Windows 11. I checked and all power settings for OS and network interface are turned off and set to stay on.

Hello,

do you run something particular always (software , custom or retail ) , both when with win10 and now with win11 ?

Do you have any addon card installed ?

(bottom line, a clear idea of the real configuration and the always present load on the OS would help to decide if there are external factors)

@mazzinia_

no extra cards installed from what was shipped.

the only thing this system does is run statistical jobs. i can't understand why that would kill the network card or make the system go into hung mode. hence why i am suspecting a motherboard issue or RAM stick issue. we have lots of other dell systems which run similar jobs in R and python.

@darkog had to ask, since the info were not exactly a lot. In this case, you can check if it's ram related by swapping the ram from a working system and seeing if the issue moves to the previously working one
