I have an old but well-functioning monitor with an AS500 soundbar. It has worked fine for years but recently there is no audio coming through it. I like to listen to podcasts and music on YouTube and this is a real nuisance. I have tried various troubleshooting tips online and failed to solve the problem. Any ideas?

My assumption is that the 2015 AS500 Soundbar is connected to a monitor for power. Then the audio cable is plugged into the Precision audio out jack. Did you test standard headphones in the Precision audio out jack to verify that it works?
That means it is at least getting power. What specific Precision laptop model? In theory the green jack plugs into the Precision headset jack? The AS500 Soundbar volume knob is turned all the way up?
It is a desktop. Yes - the green jack plugs in to the headset jack. The knob is turned full up.
This lack of audio happened suddenly in the last week or two - it's been fine for years so I wondered if it could be something to do with a routine software update?
Two speakers are listed and I don't know which belongs to the soundbar. Neither was enabled - but Headphones Realtek(R) Audio was. One speaker is Realtek(R) Audio and one is Logitech Wireless Headset. I have now enabled the Realtek one and will see what happens when I go to Youtube
Switched default back to Headphones Realtek(R) Audio and now soundbar is working!! This is weird. I feel I have wasted your time, guys. The only thing I have done which is different is to unplug and replug the jack at the back of the desktop - could that be it?

Hi! I don't have any headphones with the correct connection. But the light on the soundbar comes onwhen I switch it on, if that is a help?

That is bizarre - sound is coming from the desktop itself - weird. Nothing from the soundbar.
