Dell 5860 using Nvme M.2 Pcie Adapters

Question

We are using a Dell 4 port Nvme M.2 Pcie Adapter and all 4 installed nvme m.2 drives are recognized in Windows 11 Pro.

However when we use a 3rd party 2 or 4 port Nvme M.2 Pcie Adapter only one drive is recognized.

Bios only has one bifurcation option and that is auto. (latest bios).

So why does the Dell nvme m.2 pcie adapter allow us to see all 4 drives while other nvme m.2 pcie adapters do not?

Does the Dell adapter not require bifurcation? Hard to believe since it only cost a little over $100 and nvme adapters that Do Not require bifurcation are very expensive.

Would be nice to finally know the reason for this.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Which brands/models did you use as 3rd party ?

@mazzinia_​ The ASUS Gen 5 Pcie 5 4 drive m.2 nvme adapter and the AORUS Gen 5 Pcie 5 4 drive m.2 nvme adapter. Both only show one drive. Both require bifurcation. So what makes the Dell adapter different? Using the same PCIE 5 and PCIE 4 x16 slots.

@LarryDajn​ Thanks. The asus , if I'm not mistaken, is used without issues on 5820/7820/7920. mmmm

@mazzinia_​ Had a 5820 prior to the 5860 and yes no issues. Have a 7920 and no issues either. Hopefully will eventually find out why the 5860 has issues with 3rd party adapters but no issues with the dell 4 port and 2 port adapters.
