Dell Precision 3660 BIOS - Withdrawn
Hi,
does anyone know, Dell has withdrawn the latest BIOS releases for the Precision 3660?
Version 2.8.1 and 2.7.0 are not available at the Support Site?
is there any known problem?

Dell never discloses the reason when certain firmware version got removed from Support site. If machine has no issue with those version, it's best to leave it alone until the next update.

Yes,
I detected what you posted.
These kind of things from DELL are really weird.

Hi,
same here. I bought 4pcs 3660 Tower with Crucial and did a Ram Upgrade to 64 Gb. It fails with flashing orange/white LED. After upgrading Bios to 2.8.1 Ram works well. Now I bought another 4pcs Tower with same Ram modules and Ram upgrade failed because of old Bios.
Now I can't get the latest 2.8.1 Bios to get it to work. Does anyone have the Installation file of the 2.8.1 Bios that he can provide me? Name of the file is "Precision_3660_2.8.1.exe"

I always assumed that I had bought a professional workstation from Dell.
But it seems to me that the 3660 is just as much a consumer model as the discounters...
The Dell PRemium support could not give me any information why the bios was withdrawn or when there will be a new one.
The new NVIDIA cards have been released with the last two bios versions.
Without an official BIOS, the Dell 3660 is nothing more than a cheap PC.
A pity really...

Not too surprise with response from Support. About the workstation quality, there are three tiers of the products: 3000, 5000, and 7000. You are getting the basic, budgeted tier. Although, they are still beat the consumer models.

I just received my factory-built Precision 3660 with RTX 4090 and it came with 2.6.1 BIOS. Working fine though so not sure why the "official" support for that GPU was released with a newer version that was then pulled? Dell's still manufacturing units with RTX 4000 series and shipping them with older BIOS.

Should be available as CTO, I received mine from Poland’s Dell factory to Sweden. Had to contact Dell Sweden sales rep to have a quote.
