Dell Precision T1600 with Core i5 3rd Gen
Hi all, I know this system is well and truly out of date, but I'm still use it as a home server.
The workstation currently has a 2nd Gen Core-i3 in it, as I happen to have a 3rd Gen Core-i5 at hand I was going to upgrade it to squeeze a bit more power out of it.
After the upgrade I receive error 1,2, which is a general motherboard fault, upon reverting back to the original processor everything boots up fine. So the original processor is back in the T1600 for now.
A bit more research later and the original documentation only lists 2nd Gen processors. Will the T1600 support a 3rd Gen processor with a bios update or am I out of luck on this free upgrade?
I believe the BIOS is currently on A11 or A16 (it normally runs headless).

The following should help. The Intel C206 chipset supports Generation 2 but not 3 CPUs.
