Dell Precision T1700 UEFI setting Bios dead ??

Hello, first thank you for trying to help.

So here is the situation :

This computer (PC-2) is an exact hardware replica of another computer (PC-1) that control a very important machine in a production line. Once per 6 month I clone the disk from the main computer (PC-1) and transfer it to the backup computer. So, in case of emergency failure I have a hot swap solution.

I recently changed the cloning Software and method, and after re-imaging the drives into the backup computer (PC-2) windows is not rebooting ( ).

So reading on the subject, some internet forum suggested to change the setting of the UEFI in the boot menu. Don’t ask me why, I just did it, thinking it will fix the problem.

Well, the problem got worst, since, nothing is showing on the screen. Nothing at all. Not even a beep, just the fans running. Looks like the Bios is not working at all.

So, I disconnected everything, HD, DVD, Video card, USB and nothing changed...

I changed the video signal to VGA or DVI, etc… and still nothing.

I change the screen, and the cables, Still the same.

I tried F2, F12, F8 name it, nothing changed.

i even tried with an old PS2 keyboard just in case USB was not recognized.

I removed the battery, waited 1 hour and still the same.

I also reset the Bios with the jumper, still the only the fan working…

However, I got a BIOS sing of life when I removed the memory and boot, I got the normal Memory error BEEP sound from the motherboard.

So it tells me that this MoBo still breathing some how...

Well, now I am as far as I can with this kind of problem. And I would like this computer back on track if possible

So, is there anyone with an idea or a magic trick to get this back on track.

When you changed to UEFI, did you enable secure boot as well? I had a similar problem, I had enabled secure boot and the computer would not output to video, even though the machine was going through proper steps during boot. There was incompatibility with all Nvidia cards I had, once I tried an ATI card, I had video output and could reach BIOS again. I hope some of this provides to be useful!

Well, sound weird but possible... i just ordered a another of the same mobo this morning, but you know what it trigger me...

Inside i have a Quadro Nvdia graphic card.PCIE

i also have an onboard videocard that did not work VGA or HDMI, but is it Nvdia ???

the specs says it's a Intel HD Graphics P4000 ... I dont know...,

But i know that nVidia has a P4000 model.

Now i must find ATI card today...

Posts can only be edited by the post's maker within something like 15-20 min.  After that, the edit option is gone.  Normally, it would be found by tapping the 3 dots on the upper right of a post.  I'm sure you noticed - moderation already deleted the service tag number.  The whole post doesn't have to be deleted just because it has a service tag.

I had an old ATI Radeon HD5570 but did not work. Maybe it work only with certain model may have to google that. thanks

I had same problem. Removed the NVIDiA card and used the onboard Intel video then I could see the BIOS screen.

Also the DisplayPort never ever worked from nvidia adapter.

The graphics card was a Quadro 600

That's because BIOS access is before the Nvidia driver is kicked in.  Definitely not the most unusual. Also, some people with TV hookup have had to go back to a monitor to see BIOS.

Same issue occurred to me as a week back well. There is no BIOS screen during start up. It was running well and I updated BIOS config enabling UEFI & Secureboot for upgrading to Win 11. Done everything for restoring but no luck.
Only BIOS reflash is left at chip level rest all done what ever available in internet.
Can someone help here again.

The issue in switching to UEFI is the secure boot which requires disabling Legacy and that is the cause. YOu can recover by doing the folloiwng.  First unplug power & drain residual power, then 1)  Remove the CMOS b attery.  2) move the jumper on the motherboard from the password pins (look for label PSWD or similar) and move the jumper to Factory reset jumper labeled RTCRST.  3)  WAIT for at least 1/2 hr or longer for the CMOS to be forgotten.  Now plug the power back in and turn on System.  Your system should now boot back to Legacy drive.  You will see a couple of warning messages related to the jumpers.  Everything boot fine?  Then turn system on, replace the CMOS battery.  Now if you want to change to UEFI use the mbr2gpt command to convert the drive to UEFI.  Boot back into BIOS and change the drive to UEFI BUT DO NOT disable LEGACY.  System should now boot into UEFI mode drive without issue.  To convert to WIndows 11, use RUFUS version of the windows 11 install on a bootable flashdrive.
