Dell T5600 works with RTX3080 as well

So I set up my T3610 just like you did and PC/GPU power up and work no problem.

However, I'm worried that the GPU can draw up to 375W of power under heavy workload and may fry the single power 8pin power cable (many people suggest this can only carry up to 150W in power).  I assume if the cable could carry up to 300W then Nvidia and other manufacturers would have used only a single cable for their setups - but that never happens.

Have you stress tested your GPU (games, deep learning) and monitored the Power use?  I'm curious what you came up with.

I'm also considering using a dual PSU setup as the proprietary Dell PSU setup is a bit too tricky for me to hack.

Could you run PassMark test on your build ?

I just install GTX 1080 Ti and it runs slower than expected. On my son's gaming i7-7700 it runs almost 50% faster than on mine T5610 with dual E5-2650 v2 and trying to find out what's wrong.

I changed GPU for my T5600 back to RTX2070 recently. And here's the PassMark Performance Test result for your reference:

All of the power supplies use a value of 12v 18AMPS max for UL safety reasons.

The spec use for the 8 pin molex connector is 6.25 AMPS 12v for a SIX PIN and

12.5 AMPS for an 8 pin.  The reason they use 2X  8 pin is so that they don't exceed that.

This is also why I ordered a 1300W T31JM power supply to replace my 825W

I see that RTX2070 and GTX1080Ti on Dell are working the same - half speed only

Here is GTX1080Ti score on my sons's  i7-7700 asus Rog Mobo

on the same GTX 1080Ti in my Dell T5610:

GTX 1080 Ti is 11GB version by Asus with water cooling option (not connected)

For those following suit with 3080 12GB cards, the evga 12 GB xc3 model fits inside as it is not as tall as many other 3080 12 Gb models. Remember the T5600 has the case cover handle which cannot be removed easily and bumps into other taller cards. The 3080 FE may fit but is 10Gb.

I am not sure however how the OP got enough power to run/benchmark his 3080. The dell PSUs (825 and even the 1300W i have been told) have 12V 18Amps (as user speedstep states) so around 210W max and thats the max the 8pin cable whether you run as one cable or split it to two (as OP does) would provide. PCI slot gives a little under 75. So total around is under 300W. The 3080 model i got (and it consumes less than the FTW3 model) uses up to 350W under stress. Every time i started something intense the pc would power off and reboot. The only way around was to add a second PSU outside the pc and then deal with shorting the green/black to make it start (or use a power rail 24 pin splitter) and snaking the 8pin PCIe cables from second PSU into the dell (which is made harder as the external case PCI slots are narrow; i had to bend one of the aluminium separators to get it in).

Sadly i hear even the later dell T5610 and T5810 models have the same VGA limitation of 12V 18 Amp. So not good for the current day power hungry cards.
