Dell T7400 Workstation - Memory Riser Question

Question

Dear All i have a T7400 workstation and have used the system with two pairs of Risers successfully with eight 8Gb DIMMs making 64Gb RAM total. My question is: can I use just one pair of risers fully populated with the eight 8Gb DIMMs to achieve the 64Gb RAM rather than the two pairs of risers with gaps for more DIMMs? Ps: all the DIMMs are in matched pairs. Thanks for any help you can give. Brad

Dear All

Solved this one myself by trying the single riser with 8 matched 8Gb DIMMs.

It doesn’t work - the system halted and gave the message “Risers must be used in pairs”.

So I am back to using both Risers!
