Enabling AMT on Dell Precision T5610

Hi All,

I have a Dell Precision T5610 (Latest A16 BIOS) on which I am trying to enable AMT.

I tried several methods and none of them worked. I am posting here in an attempt that someone knows what's going one.

From Windows 10 1709 x64, I downloaded and ran the ACU Configuration Utility v11.2.0.35 (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/software/setup-configuration-software.html).

Past the first screen, ACUwizard reports in 'System Info' the following:

- Intel AMT on this system: Supported

- System Configuration state: Not Configured

- Release: 8.1.72.3002

- Client Control mode: Supported.

1) If I try to 'Configure via Windows', then go through the configuration steps, click 'Configure' and wait, the ACU Wizard goes through 'Configuring System', 'Getting system data' and fails with:

"Failed to complete the Setup operation on this Intel(R) AMT device.

....

The SKU version is not supported'.

2) if I try to use a USB key, the profile gets created successfully but nothing happens when rebooting the machine.

3) During POST, pressing '[CTRL]+[P]' results in a yellow message in the top right corner of the screen which reads 'Preparing MBEx menu' (That's from memory) but nothing happens either and the system boots normally.

Am I missing something obvious? Is there a specific version of the ACU wizard to configure AMT on a Dell Precision T5610?

Really at loss here, any help would be apreciated.

Thanks,

Vincent

Please check on Boot Menue ( Pressing "F12" while Dell Logo appears on boot screen )

AMT is only available on your mainboard if you find a menue point like

"Intel(R) Management Engine BIOS Extension ( MBEx )"

otherwise no AMT was sold with your system and AMT not available.

Hi,

I am re-visiting this subject (it's been a few months).

When I opened my T5610 and looked at the cover, I noticed a '[3] ME DISABLED'.

(This is described here : https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/sln143077/manufacturing-management-mode-settings-guide-intel-amt-on-dell-systems?lang=en)

Since this is an on-board component, I'm guess the only way to 'solve' that is to replace the mainboard.

1) Is this solved by replacing the Mainboard with a motherboard that has ME enabled or are there other components that need to be replaced as well?

2) In the case of a new T5610 motherboard.. How do I know if ME is activateable ? I wouldn't want to buy another mobo on ebay and find that it had 'ME DISABLED' as well.

3) Are there specific motherboard revisions for the T5610 that I should look for? Most of the board out there seem to be of this revision: WN7Y6

Thanks for reading,

Vincent
