Memory Upgrade Inquiry

All,

I have a Dell Precision 3630 and I wanted to upgrade my memory to 128GB, but when I enter my service tag , the two options available on the Dell website are out of stock.

My question is, can I purchase a random one from newegg? Does voltage or speed matter? It appears I need to buy DDR4 and Dell has 2666 MHZ or 3200 MHZ only. It is possible to purchase other speeds such as DDR4 4400?

Thank you,

you need to get memory that has same original manufacturer (Hynix Micron or Samsung) part number as Dell oem.  if you do not (like some users get Crucial) you may run into No POST.

    for example 128GB

To further answer your inquiry, the things you asked about do matter.  Speed, volts, and preferably capacity, need to match.  Non-ECC RAM can't be mixed with ECC.
