Precision 3431 Desktop Freezes
I just purchased this machine brand new. Immediately I get these short term system freezes where I hear this quiet buzzing sound (almost like a phone left off the hook in a room) and the system seems to freeze for anywhere from 1/2 second up to 2-3 seconds. It happens randomly during the day, maybe 3-4 times. So far, tech support has been through the entire system doing all types of diagnostics, can't see to find the issue. So, they send me a replacement machine. This new machine does the exact same thing. They now have been trying some new things, like trying a different power source, but nothing so far is working.
Is anyone else having this problem and can provide some input or thoughts? Thanks

Did you ever get a fix for this?

I bought one in April and have had similar problems, although no buzzing.
It will intermittently freeze for 3-10 seconds, then work just fine. But more frequently the freeze doesn't clear itself and I have to do a hard shutdown. The last two nights it has happened during the night when the computer was sleeping.
One interesting aspect is that when I do a hard shutdown, it turns off for a couple seconds, then appears (and sounds) like it is beginning the boot cycle. After a couple more seconds, it shuts down completely and then I can restart.
I have run diagnostics and found nothing wrong. I've been trying to gather as much situational information as I can before I call Dell. It does seem to happen more frequently when I'm using graphics, as in a Zoom meeting or videos, graphic editing, etc. Sometimes it works just fine during these applications, then all of a sudden it's frozen. I wonder if the NVidia Quadro P620 video card is the source of the problem. I've got a DP to HDMI adapter coming tomorrow so I can see if it happens with the internal video as well. After that test, I'll give Dell a call and see what they can do.

I have a strong feeling more customers are running into this issue, but due to the pandemic and most customers working from home... they aren't really noticing the sporadic 2-6 seconds of freezing. We just happen to notice it more since our users have come back into the office.

Hello All
We purchased 4 Precision 3431 (i9 procossor, 32GB, 1TB m.2 class 40, Nvidia p620) in Feb. We are running into the same issue you are running into (sporadically hanging for 2-6 seconds). At first I thought perhaps our users had old batteries in our wireless keyboard and mice so we didnt really give it a thought. But now all users are noticing this. Appears we have a bunch of lemons. These are not cheap PCs... Has Dell addressed this with anyone?

This is driving me crazy. It happens several times an hour for 2-5 seconds. I can't move the mouse, my screen freezes on Teams calls. I just bought this desktop in April and as someone else commented, it was not a cheap desktop. I am really disappointed. I have tried updating the drivers and nothing seems to fix it.

I am also having this problem with a machine I bought in early Feb 2020. At first, I thought it was just bluetooth as I have both a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. However recently I have realized that it is the processor or the bus or something major. Guess I should log a trouble ticket. Was hoping there was a solution posted.
eta: I have a NVIDIA Quadro P1000 but I don't think it is the video...
also eta: I have the i9 processor, maybe that is the problem....
