Precision T5500 reboots 10 times before POST
Hi,
I have a problem with an older Precision T5500.
The PC has not been used for some years, but i recently needed it for controlling some hardware at work.
I have replaced the hard drives for an SSD, and installed windows 7 on it.
I have also upgraded the BIOS to version A18.
The problem started after i upgraded the firmware on the DVD-drive, but it may be unrelated.
After the firmware upgrade finished, the PC asked for a reboot.
This is what happens:
The screen goes black, and the fans spins like normal, but no blue DELL logo.
Then, after about 10 seconds, the PC shuts itself of.
It turns itself on again, but after 3-4 seconds, it turns itself off again.
This happens 10 times (the PC turns itself off 10 times).
After this, the PC boots normally.
This happens EVERY time i reboot the PC.
I have run the pre-boot diagnostics, and the windows diagnostics, and have found no errors.
Can anyone help?

Installing BIOS v. A09 seem to have fixed the issue.
If anyone has a better solution I would be grateful.

I had that same thing happen on an HP yesterday. I have no idea what it was. All I can say is that it was fixed by unplugging power cables and removing/reinstalling memory, FWIW. YMMV.

I'm also running this on an old T5500.
Exact same issue, power it on, sits there for a bit, then starts rebooting about 10 times, then boots normal.
This machine seems to not allow me to boot off USB, where another identical tower is fine.
Tried swapping out power supply, RAM, removing 2nd CPU Riser, disconnecting drives, removing cards.
In the process of upgrading to Windows 10 Pro, then I will try some different BIOS versions, currently on A16.

Downgraded from A16 to A09 Successfully, now it boots quickly (Had to use MSDOS on Jump Drive to run the Bios App)
Hopefully I remember to update this if I have anything further to add.

Tried A12, and A18, both cause the boot loop. Pack to A09 and all good.
