PWR_Remote header on Precision Tower 5810

Shorting the PWR_Remote header on my 5810 causes no action at all to be taken, whether the system is powered off or on. Why is this? Is there something in the firmware that needs enabling?

As it turns out, my previous message was incorrect. The PWR_REMOTE header DOES respond to being shorted, and acts like a standard power button press. This came into effect after a BIOS update. The reason I had incorrectly assumed it to be for serial communication was due to LLM hallucination on the part of Google Gemini.

Check the intrusion switch connector.  When the side panel is open, it activates the switch and it will cut off power.

You also may want to check the Teradici host card for proper installation.

Is it not possible to short the PWR_REMOTE header like a standard ATX power switch header and have the system power on?

@IJTech ,

Is it not possible to short the PWR_REMOTE header like a standard ATX power switch header and have the system power on?

Unknown, but that would be cool.

Just know that they make after-market Remote Power Switches that are normally compatible with just about any desktop ... I use one on my HTPC.

@IJTech  Did you do as Chino said and check the intrusion switch connector?

I've worked it out now. That PWR_Remote header is for serial communication with a specific Teradici host card. Instead of using it for power control, I am simply using Wake on LAN.
