Yes, you certainly can connect USB wireless adapter for internet connection.  If you also want bluetooth in addition to wifi, then look for a PCIe wifi/bluetooth adapter.  It will be connected to a PCIe slot with a couple of external antenna sticking out on the back of the computer.
