T3500 Memory Configuration

I just bought a used t3500.  It has 12 GB of ram.

It has a configuation that is not listed in the manual.

Slot 1 has 4GB, Slot 2 has 2GB, Slot 3 has 2GB and Slot 4 has 4 GB.  As labeled on the board and verified though the bios.

When looking at it it looks like 4, 4, 2, emtpy 2.

Anyways this is not listed in the manual as a supported config, but it is working

What other configs work and why does this one.  It seems crazy...

Thanks!

@precisionpete

@DELL-Cares  is a Bot. Systems over 5 years past release date are END of Life END of Support.

Your device has reached the end of service life and can no longer be renewed, upgraded, or extended. There are other $$paid Support options available.  Connect with Dell Support.

?

Where do you have that information> Because im 100% sure DELL - Cares can't go remote control on my system, right?

So its intresting, its not a bot...but sometimes it acts it does. Please keep in mind that through '' DELL- Cares '''sometimes you have a answer from a real online moderator or whatever from Dell, so is DELL- Cares a bot? Imo, its not.

I was a former admin/moderator on a 3D site all ages a 12 years ago, i worked with all kinds of bot's.

Now there is a different between a bot and a program because a bot is created to do a several things let me say a ten thousand times. Now when you are a worldowner from a 3D site all ages you get that world program, wich you alowed entry a bot, or not.

So thatswhy is say DELL- Cares is not a bot, put a prgram^^ If it whas a bot, Dell worldwide monitoring it...thats not gonna happen.

I worked with ImaBot from Walther knüpke , Xelagot from Alex Crigny Castro and Andras from Hungariy, bots are guard, build, game, save, and more, so its clear that DELL- Cares is a program, not a bot.

so SpeedStep, next t ime you better careful taker your answers ^^

I don't care if it is a bot.  I only care about the issue I posted about... wow this forum is nuts.

Hi @precisionpete,

Precision T3500 Tech Guide.pdf

I'd never mind the stuff about nothing can be done with a T3500.

as mentioned in my original post, the memory configuration currently in the machine is not in the guide, so was curious, why it was working, are the additional configs not in the guide?

RAM configs, and other things aren't continuously updated in documentation.  Too much printing/editing.

So, if there's other RAM configs users have tried not in documentation, that I don't know.

Sometimes Dell's are more finicky than that and sometimes not.  Some of it becomes user trial and error.  I have 2 different brands of RAM in my Dell with all other specs the same; yet, some Dell's won't tolerate that and throw a RAM error code.  With some, sizes/capacity can't be mixed, yet it works in some.  No rhyme or reason that I can think of.

All I found on userbenchmark.

At least it works.  If you do decide to add RAM, just make sure all other specs are the same, whether ECC or non-ECC, MHz, and volts.  If it's all one brand and it's working, you might want to stick with it   While a system may run all RAM MHz at the speed of the slowest stick if MHz is mixed, ECC for sure can't be mixed with non-ECC.  And whether a Precision is running non-ECC or ECC RAM can depend on CPU.
