T5810 all core turbo

Ok I used throttle stop for diag. The problem is whatever Dell considers the cpu adaptive voltage ceiling. If I bump the max adaptive voltage to 1.2 everything is fine. I'm guessing there is no way to adjust anything in dells bios. Intel claims up to 1.3 volts. I can't see what the default max is on the PC though

I have the same issue. I have just upgraded my T5810 from a e5 1630v3 to an e5 1650v3 and I am getting current throttling that is stopping me get above 3.59GHz.

I have tried using the XTU app but its doesnt allow me to change anything other than the Turbo boost max power and that doesnt seam to do anything. How do you change the voltages?

When I use a CPU monitor tool I only get a Max voltage of 1.16V instead of 1.3V but cant find a way to adjust this.

Have you made any progress with this?

You have upgraded your system from 90W to 140W. That makes sense.

Dell is VERY strict on power package limits, which is related to DELL's guaranteed reliability policy.

I guess, nothing can be helped. We have similar issues with DELL laptop workstations, which can never run on full power possible.

It is interesting that small i3-i5 based desktops do not have such limiters implemented and can perform much better than one would expect.

Hi Andy, the e5 1630v3 is a 140W TDP chip from everything that I have read. So it should be a like for like swap. Why do you say its a 90W system?

EDIT: looking back I see you are referencing the 2640!

I have been mistaken. sorry. Well. I don't like those performance locks either. But building a system based on supermicro yourself does not pay off by my experience. Too many bugs and support troubles in exchange for just 5%-10% boost.

btw, I've read, there were mistakes in DELL bioses related to strict limiting, and patched in the past. Yo can try asking support for bios bug-check. Just prepare the screenshots and logs carefully.

I know this is a little late but..... If you use Throttlestop 9.4.2 it will allow you to make mods to voltages and frequency.  You need to put your computer into sleep mode and wake it.  2. Put your computer to sleep and then wake.

1. Put your computer to sleep then wake.

2. Run Throttle Stop (I run it right out of the zip file I got from   Tech Power-up...I don't unzip it)
3. Go into FIVER and in turbo ratio limits set the highest active core to what you want.  I usually set it to 44 (this times 100 is 4.4 ghz... though I never get this).  Then under CPU core voltage you set the voltage to what you want (I usually set this to 1.26v and leave it on adaptive). Then click ok.
4. Then in the main menu in Throttle Stop click set multiplier and then set it to 44t.

5. Then click turn on or something like that at the bottom of the screen.

@Andy812​ 5-10% boost..... I have run a 1650-v3 at 4.7GHz.  24% over the 3.8 GHz max and stable.... depending on the silicone lottery.

I've also got a T5810 with a 1650 V3 and been trying to find a way to improve clock speeds (without killing ir, nothing to harsh).

Followed your instructions but still can't make any value changes - suspend the pc, wake it up, open throtllestop  9.4.2, go to FIVR and all the options you suggested changing aren't available.

Did I miss any step?

Are you using the latest BIOS?  As I recall with the Dells you needed the latest BIOS .  Sorry it has taken so long.  I haven't been on this forum in a while
