T7810 memory issue (2.7) when I switch CPU from E5-2620V3 to E5-2698V4

Hi,

I recently purchased used T7810 2x E5-2620V3 and plans to upgrade them to E5-2698V4.

The original system worked fine, was able to boot and went into setup mode.

But when I removed both CPUs and replace with the E5-2698V4, the system does not boot and gave (2.7) blink.

If I switched back to the original CPU, then the system is able to boot. I also replace battery.

(I have another T7810 which I am able to the boot with the E5-2698V4 mentioned above.)

Please let me know how to identify/fix the problem!

Thanks!

Hello,

there are various revisions of the motherboard.

initial revision allows only v3 xeons, so I suspect this is your issue

Thanks!

It makes sense, But I cannot find the MB revisions information from Web, what's the release order of 0GWHMW,   0KJCC5 and  0VD98F?

I have the following MBs:

The working MB CN-0GWHMW-72200-5CC-01DA-A02
Non-working MB CN-0GWHMW-72200-51S-00E5-AD0
Bought a used MB CN-0KJCC5-FCW00-789-003F-A00 (Will it work?)

Thanks!

look for 0KJCC5, that is the model name. there are indications that some people were testing it with V4 cpu's but no definite info.

I definitely confirm 0KJCC5 works with V4 Xeons.

There's a guy selling them on ebay for $40 right now.  It is a fairly easy swap - about 20 minutes. One tip - make absolutely sure you have all the front fan cables and power cables and the front panel audio cable pulled through before you screw the thing down.

Side node, if not sure if you have 0KJCC5, in linux, dmesg | grep 0KJCC5 works fine on ubuntu. You can also do dmidecode | grep 0KJCC5 - it appears in 'Base Board Information' under 'Product Name'
