T7910 SAS3008 updated firmware

I have this workstation, working with untouched firmware.
UEFI, Secure boot, Legacy bios off
Windows 10 Pro
On DELL supportpage I found an updated firmware
I search with my computers tag.
I found
LSI 3008 Firmware, Ph15 This Computer (it is an onboard LSI)

I installed this firmware and it update two, bios and uefi.
from vers 8 to 15 on bios and up to 17 on UEFI

After a reboot the computer cannot boot.
Cannot find SAS card, and in BIOS say it cannot find harddrive.
SAS card is enabled in BIOS.
After I turn off Secure Boot and reboot, the computer work again. Find the SAS, Harddrives and boot normaly.
SAS Storage GIU say it optimal.
Rebooting and enabling Secure boot and it once again cannot start because cannot find harddrive.
For some reason I cannot turn on Secure Boot.
What am I missing here.
In SAS config utility I trid to turn off Legacy bios support, but no difference.
Computer BIOS is updated to latest v34

Ok, update. I kind of solved the problem. The reason for my problem is that DELL choose the wrong version of UEFI firmware in their update on supportpage. This will cause all user who use this update to face a bricked computer, until they discover that what happened is that their computer no longer have support for secure boot. DELL choose to use the non-signed UEFI Firmware, that is why this Workstation no longer can use secure boot and refuse to recognize the internal SAS controller. I tool rel 16 of SAS firmware from Broadcom and flashed with this. It is two verisons of UEFI in their package, I choose the signed verison. Now my DELL workstation can use Secure boot. But, DELL PC Diagnostice cannot find any harddrive, so this stop working. But once again, BIOS and UEFI recognice both controller and harddrive. And as a result from using Broadcom version, it present itself to the computer as a SAS9311-8i. Also it does not understans it is an integrated controller, it think it is a card in a PCIe.. I really hope DELL will update their version of Firmware to the correct signed version to enable this controller as an internal and T7910LSISAS3008. As long as that Firmware package is on DELL support pages, it will cause their customers computer to stop working if they use Secure boot. DELL, I know you have dropped support on T7910, but please, update your firmware, it bricks customers computers. To try force people buy an T7920 only because you bricked their T7910 with a fault firmware update, is not an good idea. People will buy something else if fault like this is at dells support.

I have been trying to update that RAID controller firmware for days...please post what / how you did it. I run ESXI and the one thing that doesn't work is that I can't see local drives. I CAN boot from USB, but only in UEFI mode, unsecure.

This is what I used with my T7610

SMC2308IT firmware Flash Process    (PRELIMINARY 9/10/12)

 Flashing IT mode in DOS:

 1) Please copy all files from DOS folder to bootable USB disk

 2) Run SMC2308T.bat and following the instruction to enter the last 9 digits/character of the SAS address.

 3) If you are having problem to enter the SAS address, please use the command below to set the controller SAS address.

sas2flsh.exe -o –sasadd “Controller SAS address”

      For example: sas2flsh.exe -o –sasadd 50030480070a8b00

 4) Reboot the system

Flashing IT mode in UEFI shell: For all X9 MB

1) Please copy all files from UEFI folder to bootable USB disk

2) Run SMC2308T.nsh and following the instruction to enter the last 9 digits/character of the SAS address.

3) If you are having problem to enter the SAS address, please use the command below to set the controller SAS address.

sas2flash.efi -o –sasadd “Controller SAS address”

      For example: sas2flash.efi -o –sasadd 50030480070a8b00

4) Reboot the system

Dell still has not fixed this.  How do I get the files from Broadcom?

Hello! Looks like I'm having a similar problem as you? Have you found a solution yet? My T7910 machine also cannot install the SAS3008 driver. The green LED on the mainboard is no longer lit. When entering the bios to boot in Lagacy mode, the LSI SAS3008 driver was not found. In windows there is no way to install the driver. I still haven't found a solution yet.

I am having a similar issue.  My controller is correctly recognized as LSI3008-IR and I'm running Firmware Version 16.00.10.00.  Is the release 16 you are referring to 16.00.00 or 16.00.10?

I wonder if going back to Dell's LSI 3008 firmware PH15 would fix this.

I've been trying to enable Secure Boot on my Precision T7910 for a few days.  After piecing together a lot of information from many difference places, including here I have finally got it to work.  Here are the detailed steps I took:

Starting with LSISAS3008IR controller

Downloaded from Broadcom.com
9311_8i_Pkg_P16_IR_IT_FW_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows.zip

Install from MegaRaid Utility

Controller firmware
9311_8i_Pkg_P16_IR_IT_FW_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows\Firmware\SAS9311_8i_IR\HBA_9311-8i_IR.rom

Reboot

Load BIOS
9311_8i_Pkg_P16_IR_IT_FW_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows\sasbios_rel\mptsas3.rom

Reboot

EFI-BSD
9311_8i_Pkg_P16_IR_IT_FW_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows\uefi_bsd_rel\Signed\mpt3x64.rom

Reboot

BIOS Settings

General -> Advanced Boot Options -> Enable Legacy Option ROMs (OFF)
Secure Boot Enable -> Secure Boot Enable -> Enabled

MSINFO
BIOS Mode  UEFI
Secure Boot State On

@jefricllc i can not get MegaRaid to scan my system, it said “the server could not be found because may be down..”, google and try everything with no luck. Is there any otherway to update the firmware? Thanks

I ran into the same problem as @DoubleK2711, so I made an account to post this to help others in the future.  My goal was to fix my T7910 so it would boot with "Legacy Option ROMs" turned off.  Unfortunately, @jefricllc's post didn't resolve that, so still stuck with needing to keep Legacy turned on...thus no Secure Boot.

However, for those wanting to try (or looking to update the LSI firmware/BIOS) I followed this video from Art of Server (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A54VuVNVX5M).  The MegaRaid Utility would not find the local server for me as well.  Wondering if it needed to be a Windows Server install instead of just Windows 10 Pro.

I made a FreeDOS bootable USB (Rufus), unzipped the Broadcom package (https://docs.broadcom.com/docs/9311_8i_Pkg_P16_IR_IT_FW_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows.zip) to the same USB.  Then loaded each rom as listed above using the commands from the video (didn't need the '-o'); I was able to update the LSI controller.
