Dell 7680, docking station issue
I have currently 3 Precisions 7680 which have the same issue, with the same docking station.
The issue is when the laptop is turned off/on there is no network connection over the LAN cable which is plugged into the WD19DCS dock, which came with the laptop.
It can be solved if you unplug the dual USB-C cable, wait to establish a network connection over WLAN and then reconnect the cable again.
BIOS update performed, drivers updated, firmware of the dock updated...
Its not convenient to unplug the cable every morning after starting the laptop.
Since im managing a couple hundreds of DELL laptops, its weird the only this model has this weird performance

holica,
To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.
Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

I've run into this problem too. I did discover that the ethernet issue is only happening on the WD19 Docking Stations. I've plugged three of them into this Precision 7680 and not one will allow connectivity via the docking station ethernet jack. BUT....I happened to find an old WD15 Docking station (little square one with VGA connector on back)....and even though it's only a single cable connect....it allows the ethernet to work through the docking station port. Now I'm not saying to use WD15's for your machines....bad idea. But it's nice to know that the ethernet can connect via a docking station and doesn't need to be plugged into the laptop in order to get connected. So...what needs a bug fix? The WD19? The Precision 7680? Or both? C'mon Dell....help us out here!!!

Other temporary solution is to split the two USB C cables from the dock and plug only one of them to the single USB C port on the right side of the Precision 7680 laptop. You will get a warning for charging but the dock network and video connections will finally work.

@HammerSlovenia This is a handy temp workaround.
@DELL-Jesse L Any announcement for a solution to this? Both USB-C ports on left side provide power, but no functionality.
Have updated Chipset/BIOS/ Firmware. Swapped docking station to another WD19DCS, same issue.

Same problem here. Dell has sent me a replacement docking, but this did not solve the issue. On the contrary, I am now also getting dock fan failure messages. Indeed, the fan makes a lot of noise, which I never experienced with the original docking. Unfortunately, that one was already shipped back to Dell.
Update 1:
A technician was on site. He replaced the docking station. This solved the fan error, but the LAN problem is still there.
Update 2:
The same technician was on site to replace the motherboard. The laptop was not booting with the new board, due to a memory error. The technician decided to reinstall the original motherboard, but the memory error was still there. It appeared that a part of the memory module had broken / missing connections! The technician ordered a new part, but I received a message that the part will not be ready for shipment before the end of next month! I am wondering what Dell is planning to do to rectify the situation. Instead of solving the original issue, I am now left with a broken and useless laptop!
Update 3:
Because of the long part backlog, Dell is willing to replace the complete laptop, but this will also take a month, as the exchange team needs to check the availability of the new system with similar model or specification.
Update 4:
Finally received the replacement laptop. Works fine out-of-the-box. But when completing the autopilot setup, the issue is back. I suspect the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client is messing up the network configuration.

@DELL-Jesse L Any update on this? I have applied two BIOS and several driver updates since without any change of behaviour.

I have a brand new 7860 and a WD19DCS and have the exact same issue. I have tried 2 different docks and they both behave the same way.
I have discovered that, after the system boots, if you remove the dual USB-C connector and then plug it back in, the issue is resolved until the next reboot.
Pain in the rear, but it seems to work.
PS: Just saw that this has been going on for over a year! Come on DELL, FIX THIS!

A colleague of mine had similar issues and was able to resolve them by opening the laptop's case, disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery. I am not sure if I can recommend this solution since it probably causes some warranty issues, but it could be a very temporary workaround.
