Dell Precision 7680 Memory failure

Question

This is the second time this has happened to me to my new Dell Precision 7680, specs are i9-13950HX, 128 GB CAMM ram, RTX 5000 ADA and 2TB NVMe SSD. So my power indicator flashes 2 amber lights and then 5 white lights. Which according to Dell means 'Memory/RAM failure'. Furthermore this power indicator keep flashing as the machine attempts to restart and after a manual powercycle, it breaks the loop and the bios shows a error saying 'Alert! Memory Error has occurred.', now this machine is brand new I’ve only had it for a couple of months and I take amazing care of this device as it was $7000~ so I’m wondering if this is normal as the only thing that I can think of that has been done the exact same the last time this issue occurred was both times I received this error I had been constantly hibernating the machine for both times around 30-40 days with many chrome tabs and Visual Studio, etc open, normally with 30~ gb of ram being occupied each time the machine goes back into hibernation for the next day use. So is this normal? Am I just hibernating to often (nearly every day) with stuff open, or has my ram gone bad? Because this would be a $2000 repair for my ram for a new stick. P.S. The last time this error occurred was give or take about a month ago. P.P.S. After the bios alert, I’m able to get back into windows and memory BIOS diagnostics tests (including the advanced memory bios diagnostics test) shows that nothing is wrong, but I am still curious. Thanks in advance! TLDR: Memory failure LED indicator followed by bios memory error alert, and I can still boot into windows after the bios alert like nothing happened, is it because of constant hibernation or is my ram bad?

If you already ran advanced memory diagnostic test with no error, the alert probably was for one time error detection while system tried to keep up with a long duration in hibernation.

Hi,

very same Issue here with my 7680 i7-13850HX RAM 32.0 GB. No issue found with BIOS memory test or other test like Memtest86, but I'm able to reproduce the issue using Memory testing on Dell support site. During the testing the laptop freezes and the only way is a manual powercycle.

Do you have the latest BIOS, 1.15.0 update installed, which fixes Intel's power issues with their 13th and 14th Gen CPUs?

Safest way to update BIOS is to follow the Installation Instructions for Updating the BIOS from BIOS Boot Menu (independent of operating system) shown at that link.
