You'd be better off asking VisionTek -- Dell does not support eGPUs other than on some Alienware notebooks, which had (but no longer do) the option of the Alienware graphics amplifier.
I to had a conflict with my Quadro RTX 3000, it turns out you can't have both the geforce and quadro drivers installed at the same time. Also... My eGPU is stuck at 1x speeds or 2.5 GT/s meaning these thunderbolt ports are not true PCIe 3.0 x4 but are actually effectively 1x ports. Probably because the Quadro RTX is using 16x already. I assume the chassis without the dedicated Nvidia GPU would have more lanes available via thunderbolt...
Just starting down the same road with a Precision 7670. What did you have to do? Disable the RTX A3000 (A2000 in my case) from device manager? Or did you have to uninstall drivers or what? My application for the egpu/3090 is AI computation as well. Thanks!
Hi, just found this and am also interested in EGPU support. I've also got a 7670 with A3000. I'm just looking into the possibility of this for offloading 3D rendering tasks. Most hits suggest you can't mix pro / gaming cards (the official line) but also seems possible... Cheers for info in advance! W.
@snydertech I thought about doing the same on my 7540, same GPU as you. I guess you had no success so far? I'm totally stuck with underpowered hardware for 3D rendering...

my Precision 7550 does: I have connected a Razer Core X with an GeForce RTX 3090 card and use it for cuda using Matlab.
It was not simple to configure since there was a conflict with the Quadro RTX 5000 inside the Precision, but at this end it worked alright.
