M4600 - Intel i7-3630QM

Hello, I have a Dell Precision M4600 with an Intel Core i5 2520M processor, socket 988B rPGA (G2) on the 08V9YG motherboard. I want some power so I can buy an Intel Core i7-3630QM processor. Can this processor be installed in the M4600? I will be grateful for your help. Waldemar  (I don't speak English.)

Welcome to the Dell Community @Waldi

You must use 2nd gen CPU's.

Intel Core i5-2520M (PGA) CPU upgrade:

This machine only supports 2nd generation core CPUs.  It does not support any Intel CPU that starts with any number other than 2.

The most powerful option is the Core i7-2960XM (55W CPU)

The most powerful option if you don't want to coo a 55W CPU would be the 45W Core i7-2860QM.

Here is a link to the mobile section of the wikipedia page for the 2nd Gen Core Architecture (Sandy Bridge)
Only CPUs from this generation that are available in the Socket G2 form factor will work in your machine.

There is no way to make the third gen CPUs work.  For the upgrade you are suggesting you would need to purchase a Precision M4700 or M6700.
