My M4800 does not start: total black screen, but the 3 led sound and the on/off led are on.
It has already happened in the past, I had to try many times and wait for it starts again and the bios update (A26) resolved the problem for several months before the problem came back without understanding why.
I tested a lot of advices here, even removing all parts (RAM, HD, CD drive, battery, CMOS...) but no changes.
Only the D + start test passed (the screen changes colors) but it remains without POST on reboot.
I looked for a bios recovery method, but there wouldn't be one on this model if I understand correctly.
Sorry my mistake as I was thinking desktop Precision and not mobile when you mentioned 3. To be clear the diagnostic LEDs are Power, Storage, and Wireless. Which are lit solid, which are blinking, and which are not on at all? This chart in the manual references what the diagnostic lights indicate.
