parasitic power draw
My Dell Precision 3480 seems to lose 12% of the battery overnight. The machine is stuffed into backpack as I use the machine for field use. Never used to be a problem so I wonder if the motherboard has developed a fault.

If I use standby I see some power lost, but in power down it was also down
I often run the battery down to be sure the chemistry is good

Do you turn the laptop off before putting it into the backpack? If not, you should because if it is left on it will reduce the battery.
