Precision 5530 - Crashes when using P2000 GPU
Hello all,
I have a precision 5530 which I recently noticed an issue with when using graphic intensive programs.
I first noticed the issue when I was unable to open a unity-built game. I'd see the application just hang and say 'Not responding'
I noticed also when I open solidworks (CAD program that relies heavily on the GPU) the program hangs and then crashes.
I tried opening the NVidia control panel and that even crashes when I try and configure the image quality of the spinning NVidia logo.
As I suspected the P2000 may be the issue, I disabled it from the Device Manager. Once the P2000 is disabled, I can to run all the programs mentioned above without crashing - albeit with very poor performance.
So far, I have tried removing the NVidia driver and reinstalling the latest one from the Dell Website. I've also updated the bios to the latest version and loaded the default settings in the bios. I've made sure that all drivers on the machine are up to date.
Unfortunately, the issue persists, I am unable to run any program that uses the P2000 unless it is disabled in the device manager.
Is it possible that this could be a hardware issue?
The specification of my machine is:
Dell Precision 5530
i7-8850H
Quadro P2000
16GB Ram
500GB Samsung Evo 970 NVMe
I'd appreciate any help with this issue. Thanks.
I ran the dell tools diagnostic and none of the tests on the P2000 would even run.

If you are willing, you might experiment by downloading the most recent NVIDIA driver for the P2000 using the GEForce interface on the NVIDIA site:

Tried the latest NVidia driver to no avail. Even the NVidia control panel crashes when I attempt to configure the quality settings.

The latest from the NVidia site? (not the Dell site).

I should have solved this issue.
Try updating the BIOS to the last version, go in to the BIOS settings and disable C-State support.
Then update to the last nvidia drivers (for me 416.94 for SolidWorks 2022).
Let me know!
