Precision 5540, disable Nvidia T2000

I have a Precision 5540 which occasionally  (every couple of weeks)  crashes to a BSOD throwing a SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED stop code from nvlddmkm.sys, that's the driver for the Nvidia T2000 in my computer.

From what I've gleaned from the internet the T2000 is not a true discrete coprocessor and it only functions with a small number of applications, none of which I use, so apparently the T2000 is doing nothing for me except for causing my computer to crash at often inopportune times.

I have removed the T2000 from the Windows Device Manager and then used DDU to removed all traces of the Nvidia application and driver from Windows.  This seems to work, I don't get any BSODs afterwards, but eventually Windows discovers the T2000 and "helpfully" reinstalls the Nvidia driver, which inevitably causes the computer to crash again.

Is there any way to permanently disable/remove the T2000, or is there any way to prevent Windows from installing the Nvidia driver after I've removed it?

Thanks,

-phil
