Precision 5540 Intermittent Battery

Hi all,

I have a precision 5540 that is starting to show some odd behavior with its battery life.

The battery health is at ~83%, and I still get over 6 hours of use on one charge.  However, I have two issues, one of which I would think could be fixed but I'm not sure.

The first issue is the dreaded s3 sleep, where simply closing the lid to put the laptop in sleep mode makes me find it the next day completely dead.  I found this to be overridden by just using the Hibernate feature instead, where I no longer have this issue, but now, I have a new issue as a result of this:

After sitting for a long period of time, when I wake the computer from Hibernate, I will get a bios critical battery error, the battery LED on the side will also show critically low, despite the battery being almost full.  I will proceed to boot to Windows, and it Windows will also show 1% battery remaining.  When I plug the computer in, the battery percentage instantly jumps back to where it was when I left it.

Example: I had my computer hibernating for around two hours--it started at 70%.  When I opened it back up, I got a critically low error, but I thought this was false, so booted to Windows anyways, in which Windows showed 1% as well.  I instantly plugged it in, and it jumped right back up to 70%, and I thought that was odd, so I instantly unplugged it after the capacity had popped back up, and the computer operated fine on battery power.  Attached is my battery health report, as well as a screenshot of this specific example.

Note, this happens almost daily.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
