Precision 7520 ThunderBolt 3 Problem
Hello, I'm looking for help with my Precision 7520 and its Thunderbolt connector.
I bought an external case for the eGPU Sapphire GearBox for the ThunderBolt3 connector.
Unfortunately, after connecting, the housing is detected as an ordinary USB hub, but it does not see it as a ThunderBolt device, charging does not work, etc.
The case was connected to another Dell Precision 7550 laptop and there it is correctly detected as thunderbolt, i.e. it is visible in the ThunderBolt Control Center software, reports charging with a maximum power of 90W, etc.
So far I have done, updated the thunderbolt module firmware (Dell ThunderBolt Firmware Update 4.46.155.003, A08). I have installed the drivers from the Dell website with the number Intel-Thunderbolt-Controller-Driver_TBT79_WIN_17.4.79.510_A12.
Unfortunately, these drivers are recommended to work with Windows 1909 and old (I have Windows 20H2 64bit).
When I connect the eGPU to the thunderbolt port, the device is not detected.
Therefore, I tried to install the drivers from Intel's website (I found such an entry somewhere on the www forum), and I tried the TBT-Win10-1.41.1193.0 version. Unfortunately, after connecting the eGPU with these drivers, an exclamation mark appears in the device manager next to the ThunderBolt Controller 15D9 device with the error code 43.
On another laptop with Thunderbolt everything works fine, so the eGPU is fine.
How to make thunderbolt work properly?

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

Hi Kuba_7520,
I am experiencing a similar issue but with tb3 ssd enclosure. It works just fine with other laptops (MacBook), but when connected to my Precision 5760 workstation it is recognized as a USB device, but not TB. Thunderbolt Control Manager can't see any devices attached to either of TB ports.
I have gone through the same steps with no success.
If you get your problem solved please post a it here.
Thanks.

@Kuba_7520 and @uniksoid Have you confirmed that Thunderbolt is enabled in the BIOS? And at least as a test, you could try setting the Thunderbolt Security level to No Security, although that shouldn’t be necessary and isn’t an ideal permanent solution.

Hi @jphughan ,
Yes I did confirm that TB is enabled in BIOS. As for the TB Security Level - I don't have this option in BIOS avaliabe.

Eventually managed to sort the issue. The problem was with the cable, incuded with enclosure by the manufqacturer. After replacing Orico's TB cable with a real TB cable everything works.

uniksoid you said that you changed the cable to another one, which was wrong with that cable, after all, the Macbook detected it as you wrote?
I tested mine on another Dell laptop, so I exclude it, the more so that the manufacturer of the Sapphire eGPU says that the case is compatible with my Precision 7520 (i assume that cable too).

I also confirm that I have the ThunderBolt 3 connector activated in the BIOS.
The cables with the eGPU are OK because in another laptop (my colleague has a Precision 7560 with a double thunderbolt connector) the eGPU is correctly detected on each of the connectors.
Before describing the problem, I tried to check the obvious, i.e. whether the equipment I am adding is detected on another laptop, install drivers, etc.
Why does Dell describe that drivers only work with Windows 10 1909 and earlier? Maybe there is a problem here?

I have something, I was able to install the Dell drivers Chipset_Driver_TBT51_WN64_1.41.613.1_A03_02.EXE and the ThunderBolt port started detecting the eGPU station. The drivers are dedicated to computers other than my Precision 7520, but they still work.
Screen below.
.

Dell, what are the drivers for my equipment are good, I remind you i have Precision 7520, I also ask for information on how to activate charging via the TB3 port. In January, I am supposed to receive the DELL WD19TB docking station at work and I feel that there will be trouble with it.
Again I am asking the manufacturer for help on this topic.

Unfortunately, this driver also does not work properly, it will be possible to run the eGPU on the TB connector, but after turning off and reconnecting the eGPU, it shows bluescreen
If, however, the bluescreen does not appear, the eGPU again cannot be found in the TB Software.
So far I've figured out that the eGPU work (can be found and seen on software) on drivers with numbers
1.41.11.XXX (i test version 1.41.11.613 and 1.41.11.1193) and the ThunderBolt Control Center software from the Microsoft Store with the number 1.0.34.0
The station does not work on the dedicated drivers from the Dell Support website number 17.4.79.510 and the old ThunderBolt Software.
