1600N install shows 3 printers...
Hi,
I recently installed the 1600N printer on my network (as a network printer - connected to an ethernet port). I installed the network drivers on a couple of my computers and noticed that now, it shows three separate Dell printers on my computer's printer menu.
Dell laser MFP 1600n (default), Dell laser 1600n PCL6 and Dell laser 1600n PS. I am curious as to what the other two options are... (the printer is working fine)
Could anyone provide some insight into this? I am running Win XP pro on one machine and Win2K pro on another and noticed the same thing on both.

The ones that say PCL6 and PS - they are Dell Custom Drivers, it means that they are built by the manufacturer and reflect all the printer settings and capabilities.
The one that doesn't say PCL6 or PS must be a System Driver (the one that comes with the OS). It has very basic set of functions but it's very small and certified by OS by default.
It's up to you which driver to choose. The PS (PostScript) driver is good when you are printing from Adobe Acrobat or graphics applications. The PCL driver is good when you are printing a lot of text (draft or normal).
