1600n network set-up

I am trying to figure out the best way to set up the 1600n.  I have three computers which are not networked together, but share the same wireless router.  I was hoping to plug the 1600n via Ethernet into the wireless router and make it usable for both printing and scanning by all three computers.  I'm not married to this set-up, but was hoping to avoid buying a print server, in addition to my current wireless router.
 
Here are my basic questions:
 
1)  When I plug in the printer, the router gives it a dynamic IP address.  So if I shut down the router or the printer, I need to re-assign the IP address on each computer.  Is there a way to give the printer a static IP address?
 
2)  How does the network scan capability work if I adopt this set-up?
 
Any advice that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Connecting to your router should work just fine. You can access the printer's embedded web server to set the ip address manually (type the printer's ip address into any web browser) or set a reserved ip address on the router.

Scanning over the network can be a little more involved if you need to update your firmware. But otherwise, you'll just need to run the Network Scan Manager on each workstation to establish the connection for scanning.
