1720 Laser Printer - Cartridge doesn't fit
I've been asked to help a non-profit that received a donation of a Dell 1720 Laser printer. The printer did not work, and it appeared that the toner cartridge was the incorrect size for the printer - the guides are not far enough apart, and there appear to be no contacts on the printer to match those on the cartridge. After calling the Dell help line, I ordered a new cartridge - but it appears identical to the first and doesn't seem to fit appropriately in the printer. As expected, the printer doesn't recognize the cartridge.
Here's a picture of the printer with the cartridge in it, which will clarify the issue.
When the left hand guide is seated in it's slot, there's about a 1/2-in gap between the guide on the right of cartidge and the slot in the printer body. It just appears to be the wrong cartridge. What's up???

You are missing the "holder" for the toner cartridge which is actually the Imaging Drum. TJ987. Many people remove it when removing the cartridge not realizing it is a separate part and needs to remain in the printer. Good luck.

Thanks, HTZ! I finally figured it out for myself - but forgot to put the answer up on the forum. :emotion-6: Aloha from Hawaii.
