1815DN answer/fax mode - loosing the will to live..

Question

Have an annoying problem whereby i need the 1815 fax to share a line with a seperate answering machine, according to the manual the answering mode needs to be ans/fax for this - problem is, the fax is picking up mid call, weather it be the answering machine or an actual voice call talking - this cuts of the voice call, interupting it with the fax modem noises - cutting of calling customers..

this is so if the answer machine is connected in the back of the 1815, or seperately..

Hi there,

I had the same problem. I found by switching it to Tel Mode that this stopped. tell the sender to dial *9* (as displayed on fax) to start the fax transmission once the answer machine kicks in. It works for me, I have added this to my answer machine greeting. Also if you are caught out and pick up a fax call just dial *9* yourself and put the reciever back down. The fax will still pick up the transmission.
