1815dn design flaw? Refuses to accept command prior to warm-up

Is there some setting I can adjust so that I can give the printer the command to copy or fax prior to the warm-up phase? (please note: This is while I am standing at the printer...and not using my PC to give the printer commands) I find it so irritating that I have to wait for it to warm-up. Why can't it simply accept my command, then warm-up, and then execute the command, instead of refusing to accept my command until it has warmewd up?
