2155cdn Vertical Blanks

My otherwise flawless 2155cdn is printing with a vertical blank line about a third of the way from the left side of the paper. The User's Guide (Page 699-700) says "Ensure the light path is not covered." Alas, nowhere in the manual does it show the light path. Step b says "Check the light path, then remove the shielding."

Anyone have any experience with this? Dell has already replaced the PHD unit once.

Thanks for your help.

Off hand, i could not recall where is that Laser cleaning window. 4 opening (width of a quarter size)

Try finding the magic wand..a rod with a cleaning pad on it..stuff that rod to clean the laser windows(CMYK ,4 of them).

Likely that the toners spilled over to the Laser output unit and it always covered the same zone and no light being transmitted to the Drum surface , therefore...no toner printout..a vertical blank line is formed.

Dragging the printer on the table could have caused this .
