2335dn losses usernames / network scanning to PC

I have a Dell 2335dn. I installed the newest sofware from Dells website and I cannot get the username / User ID to stay on the printer. When I try to scan to PC from the printer, the ID does not show up. DOes anyone know a fix to this problem. This is the main purpose for this printer is the scanning. The printer is only a back up printer. I have a 1600 multifuntion on the network with no problems.

Yes of course entering the information in again will work.....

but WHY do the ID's get lost in the first place?

we have over 100 of these 2335 and a few 1815's and even 1 or 2 1600. They are all plagued by this problem of loosing the connection to the PC.

The printers are installed on  windows 2003 , one printer a server.

is there a file that holds these settings, if so i was thinking of either write protecting it or writing a script to update it on logon.

There is not a file that hold the information, nor are the PC/user names stored in the printer.

The names show up on the LCD when the PC "advertises" itself on the network.  The 2335dn is "listening" for PC's ID's.

The problem is that, for some unknown reason, either the scan manager is not advertising, or the 2335dn is not listening properly.

Since fudging with the settings on the PC can make it work, I tend to think the software is problematic.

I've had the same problem with the 2335, 1815 and 1600.

Now, I've got a completely different unsolvable issue with the 2335,  but that is for another thread.
